How it works

One supply chain, four steps.

Space Ocean moves water from Earth-sourced supply in low Earth orbit, then to depots across cislunar space.

    Affordable, flexible satellites carry water from Earth-sourced supply to where it is needed on orbit.

    Water is held on orbit in managed tanks, so supply is in place before the demand arrives.

    Water is designed to be treated to the quality each customer specifies before it is handed over.

What water does

One resource, three jobs.

Life support

Drinking, food preparation, and hygiene, plus oxygen generation through electrolysis.

Propellant

Water can be split into hydrogen and oxygen. Supplied on orbit, it is fuel that never had to climb out of Earth's gravity.

Shielding

Water absorbs radiation. Stored around crew quarters, it doubles as protection.

Proving it first

The 12U water-transfer mission.

Before the first customer delivery, a 12U spacecraft demonstrates water transfer in microgravity and returns the flight data.

Zero-g water transfer

Repeatable, pressure-driven transfer of water between tanks in microgravity.

Slosh characterization

Fluid behavior measured against spacecraft attitude telemetry, the core guidance and control data.

Sensors and telemetry

Full instrumentation with autonomous control and fault isolation on board.

Communications

S-band command and telemetry, plus a spectrum-management exercise with no extra flight hardware.
